In July, our General Manager Shane Clarke attended the 14th Annual China International Roofing and Waterproofing Expo in Shanghai. As Nuralite is always looking for new and exciting opportunities, he was very excited to see what the other countries had to offer and see their different methods of application.

The expo was held over four days at the World Expo and Convention Centre and it had over 250 exhibitors from throughout China, Japan, Germany, Italy, America and other countries. Shane visited many interesting stalls at the 25,500 square metre venue and made many important contacts.

The strongest theme that came through during the expo was the popularity of lightweight, multi-layered roof build ups. And coincidentally its’ similarity to the Nuraply 3PM warm roof system on a metal tray substrate.

"It is very reassuring that what we are doing here in New Zealand is on par with what other industry leaders, throughout the world are also doing".

The scope of the Expo covered asphalt membrane, roof shingles, metal roofing materials and singly-ply roofing. As well as solar roofing, green roofs, underground construction waterproofing plus roofing equipment/machinery etc.

The China International Roofing & Waterproofing Expo (R&W) is the biggest one in China’s roofing and waterproofing market, and it is held annually. It has been going for 14 years and is a premier event to all of those in the industry.

Shane found it invaluable to visit the expo as it has been recognized as one of the top international expos in the roofing and waterproofing industry worldwide. The experience was eye opening in terms of the sheer size of China’s industry, as the annual output of waterproofing materials is about 1.72 billion sqms in 2015, 13.8% of which is TPO & PVC membrane. Overall the trip was one of a kind and was a good indication that Nuralite’s waterproofing systems are among the best in the world.
